The Cat of Yule Cottage is one of those books that you appreciate the magical scenes specially if you loves cats. The story is about a cat and Writer Jassamine Pike from London. Before Jassamine knew it she was telling the letting agent that she would take the house called Enysyule. It was Miss Roscarrow's wish that who ever rents the house must also care for the cat. Strange as it was Miss Roscarrow tried to leave the house to the cat. She would have left the whole house to the cat if she could [...]

Off the back of a relationship breakdown and with an impending manuscript deadline looming, writer Jessamine Pike sees the advertisement for the secluded cottage of Enysyule in the Devon village of Lanford. Goaded by the bitter old man at the letting agents who implies, "a girl like her wouldn't last a night in a place like that", she signs a year long lease without even viewing the down at heel property. Signing the lease in a fit of pique, with old Mr Roscarrow haranguing her about his aunt's [...]

Here are just a few of them.Cat Sìth, Grimalkin, King of the CatsThe Cat Sìth (no, nothing to do with the dark side, it’s pronounced “shee” ) is a Celtic mythological creature; a fairy beast said to hunt the Scottish Highlands. This is a short, quick read about Jess Pike, an author who signs the lease for a cottage without having seen it in person. Even though it's rundown and has a lot of mystery surrounding it, she quickly falls in love with Enysyule, the cat who lives there and the village she now lives in. But then the history and secrets surrounding her new home catch up on her, and she has to fight for its future.I feel like I should preface this by saying I am not particularly fond of cats, but if you are, you m [...]

I decided to read The Cat of Yule Cottage in the run up to Christmas and as a seasonal holiday read, it hits the mark. However, it is more than a piece of romantic escapism. Jessamine Pike arrives at Enysyule having split from her boyfriend and had her book accepted by a publisher. She decides that her life needs an overhaul and takes on the tenancy of the house despite the rather odd stipulation that she should care for the incumbent cat, Perrin. Whilst the cat lives, her tenancy is safe. The h [...]

Jess, a writer, has taken on the tenancy of Enysyule (Yule Cottage) in Cornwall having moved from London. The cottage is in a tired state and in need of renovation. The tenancy is unusual as it comes with odd conditions including being guardian of the valley and caring for Perrin, the resident cat. The ownership of the cottage is debated argued over between two families and Jess finds herself in the middle of the feud.Jess soon realises that Enysyule has an almost magical effect on her, having da [...]

I got this book at Christmas and it was a lovely winter holiday read. The story centres around Jessamine Pike who impulsively signs the lease of a rather neglected Cornish cottage named Ennysyule which is situated in a rather remote valley. One stipulation of the lease is that she will care for the resident cat, Perrin. We learn that there has always been a cat at Ennysyule. Soon Jess is being troubled by strange dreams and she feels herself catching glimpses of past events. I love these kind of [...]

A sweet little romance with some mystery and supernatural elements thrown in for good measure. An enjoyable read that moved along nicely. And I loved Perrin: the mysterious and imperious black cat.

I absolutely loved this! And being Cornish myself, this Cornish based book was perfect! Beautifully written, the story is wonderful, and there’s little bits in there to make you laugh if you’ve ever owned a cat! I smiled the whole way through!

An interesting read , more magic than anticipated .I bought the book because I fancied the title -so glad I did . The book has a certain magic /mystery about it which is woven into the story very well . A million times more engaging than the light 'send me off to sleep' story I anticipated , in fact I struggled to put it down before I finished . I await more from this author .
