3.5 starsLux is a struggling writer who is waiting for her big break. While attending comic convention she gets stuck in the elevator with none other than, Jude, the star of the hottest series in television. This is the story of how this chance encounter changed her lifeSoI have mixed feelings about this book. From the blurb I thought it would be a fun interesting read and I was left a little disappointed. Lux is a little awkward, shy and trying to bring about a change in her life. She did not ha [...]

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review. One of the best romances I've ever read. Real & honest. Funny and emotional. These characters amazed me with their fantastic chemistry. The storyline was refreshing, modern and very entertaining!Lux is a shy young woman and a writer. She struggles to get her books out there until a chance meeting with Jude chances everything. Jude is a famous television actor with a high profile. When they meet, Lux never thought that their encounter will [...]

5 'But Deserves More' StarsMy first book of 2016 could quite possibly turn out to be one of my favourites of the year. It had everything I ever want from a book. A female lead that makes me feel every ounce of what she's feeling, a male lead who's perfectly imperfect and an antagonist who threatens said female and male finding their happy ever after and it made me crySimple!Lux Dawson is one of those characters that is socially awkward to the extreme and genuinely doesn't see the beauty in herse [...]

Book Review - L is for Luminous by Amity Cross - 4 ½ Take A Chance on Me StarsI’m a big fan of Amity Cross’ but let me tell you now this is a huge departure from the gritty world we normally inhabit and she still managed to rock my socks off!L is for Luminous is a book about Lux. She’s a writer with a seemingly untouchable dream of getting well known which she supplements with an ordinary day job (as many, many real writers can attest to and do!).When she offers to help at a Comic-con eve [...]

4.5 StarsPrior to starting this, I didn’t know what to read. So I did what I always do and I started going through books on my kindle and looking them up on to see what sparks my interest. I’ve read at least one book by Amity Cross before and it ended in a cliffhanger so when I decided this looked good, I did something I typically don’t do…look at reviews prior to reading. I was really worried that this would have a cliffhanger and I’d have to wait for ages for the second book. The go [...]

Josie's 4.5 Star ReviewAmity Cross never ceases to amaze me. Every book I read from her makes me come back for more. This book was different than her other series but it hooked me from start to finish. I was not sure if a writer writing about another writer would work, but it sure did. I loved the titles of each chapter and how much the characters and plot were intriguing and well developed.I really felt connected to Lux’s character. I really saw myself in her. Lux is an awkward young woman, h [...]

Wow!! This is not Amity's usual kind of kick ass story! I have read all of Amity Cross's books, she is one author I will one click without hesitation! I loved this book, its not what I was expecting which is why I think I enjoyed it even more. As with all her other books I was sucked in from the first page so no disappointment from me! This is a lovely story. Lux is a writer, she likes to get lost in her own fantasies, (who can blame her?) she has no family, her parents gave her up when she was [...]

I read my first Amity Cross book last year (The Beat series) so I was looking forward to reading this new book. The story is about Lux a writer looking for her lucky break and Jude who has just found his break on a new America TV series. They both get stuck in a lift one day and little does Lux know that once they are freed from the lift that her life will change forever. There is a job opportunity of a lifetime and also Jude wanting to get know her more. However he has the 'perfect' on and off [...]

I guess it's safe to say that L is for Luminous is unlike anything else Amity Cross has written, yet it was brilliant! I was intrigued about this book since I read the blurb and saw that beautiful cover, and this book definitely did not disappoint. The book is equal parts, funny, beautiful, romantic and angsty. The blurb is pretty self-explanatory, Lux is usually a recluse, she has been through a lot having been raised in the foster care system, not having a real family. Because of that she usual [...]

Dear Amity,L is for Luminous was perfect.Thank you.I was so excited to be able to read L is for Luminous before its official release. Amity had allowed me into this 'cool kids club' where we sit around and read the fabled 'ARC' and now I feel like I am owed a t-shirt or something. With this book I truly took a journey, let me tell you about itIt started with a stunner of a cover. Being a cover snob through and through I was delighted to add this little gem to the line up of ebooks I possess. How [...]

I was really excited to read this book. I thought average girl gets stuck in an elevator with hot guy. This could be funny, hot and overall a different kind of read for me. Different from the norm.Well This book had it's moments with me.But Lux Lux, Lux, LuxShe was super hard to get into. Which made this book a struggle to get through. I get she was dealt a crappy hand in life. I get that she has to work on things and herself. But I felt like she never tried. I mean I'm 58% in and she still hasn [...]

A great read by Amity Cross. Although it took me a little while to get into it, what with adulting getting in the way and all, when I actually took the time to sit down and give it my full attention, it had me awake until some crazy hour until I finished it. Amity wrote this story so well. L is for Luminous is the story of Lux Dawson. An author who flys under the radar but meets Jude Atwood and her life turns upside down. A move from Australia to write for a US television series, Lux is living t [...]

Luh luh love L is for LuminousLux is so real! She's painfully shy and insecure but it was written in a relatable way rather than making her seem unrealistically debilitated. She's unsure of her place in the world and what to do with her future. Watching her find her footing while heeding her calling was great.I was a little iffy on the hero, he was so indecisive and misleading the end was somewhat satisfying but a little bit rushed. I feel like Lux's personal story had come to a proper conclusio [...]

I've read a lot of stories by Amity Cross; she's a writer who's not afraid to step outside the box and craft HER tale how she wants and with the type of characters and darkness that she wants to deliver to her readers, and I've thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them. With L is for Luminous, Cross steps even further outside the box, especially her own, and writes a story that is just as soul searching as her others, but in a much different way. Lux’s story is not as dark or erotic as othe [...]

To say that this is outside of Amity Cross’s “box” is absolutely spot on! But you know what? I kind of liked that she took this chance and wrote from her heart, what she really, really wanted to write. It shows. In every single word, paragraph and page, it most definitely shows. And you know what else? I felt like a got a real piece of Amity Cross in this story. It felt personal, it felt real. This is the reason why I read. I don’t say that too often but when one of my favourite authors [...]

Didn't finish after page 17. This book started out good actually. I was relieved that lux didn't seem like a cliche lead female. She was a nerd but she wanted love. Not like so many other female lead characters that go on and on about how they "don't have time for a boyfriend" or "aren't interested in romance" or "have been hurt too many times" or any number of lame excuses meant to give us a conflict for the love interests but it's just so unoriginal and over done. So I was happy that this girl [...]
