I am a huge Simpsons freak. This book came out last year some time and I had been eyeballing it at Barnes and Noble every since. But it was $35 and I just couldn't justify spending that much at the time. Low and behold, I went browsing in the Barnes and Noble bargain section a few days ago and what should happen to be sitting their glowing as if calling me to buy it? You guessed it! It was now only $9.99 and I had to get it. This is a visual history of 25 years of The Simpsons. With some explana [...]

When The Simpsons debuted proper I was 7. I've been addicted to the show since. When I saw this book on months before release I preordered and counted the days. Man, am I disappointed. This is like a scrap book put together by an amateur. As far as a complete history - not even close. MAYBE 10 out of 550 episodes are even covered. What you actually get is 10-20 pages of screen grabs (low resolution) retelling an episode. The episodes you can pretty much predict: how Homer and Marge met, when th [...]

A nothing book. The hardcover and peresentation of the book is the only thing that sold it to me - it seems like the content was slapped together by someone on a lazy night, because the screenshots in which the pages are littered, are just that: SCREENSHOTS. They are not remastered or redrawn in any way - just low resolution snapshots from different episodes. No character bios, no town map, no proper timeline, no original illustrations or anything that could justify naming this scrapbook "The Si [...]

I got this book for my husband for Christmas, as we are both huge Simpsons nerds. I read the whole thing cover to cover in just a couple of hours and found myself laughing out loud and some of my favorite quotes. The book focuses on the chronological history of Homer and the Simpsons family (like a scrapbook), but what I found most interesting was how Groening incorporated the more obscure episodes from their past (90’s grunge scene). There are several flashback episodes that are presented (Li [...]

Big Simpsons fan here and I was looking forward to this book, but I read through it in a store and it is really a rip off. $35 for a very lazy compilation of screencaps and quotes from the series. No new material, not put together in an interesting or funny way, and the actual pictures are pretty grainy and pixellated. It's like someone took a fan's tumblr and tried to sell it in hardcover.

Super cute book. Initially bought this as a gift for Peter for Valentine's Day - mainly because I saw it on sale at Barnes & Noble and thought it would look great in our family library. We're both big fans of the Simpsons, and we love the series so if you have a book dedicated to them with lots of photos and cool text we're all up for it. While the photos look like they're screen captures from the TV show itself, the book tells us the story of the Simpsons family - how Homer and Marge met, a [...]

The Simpsons Family History by: Matt Groening. I love this book .This book will tell you everything you need to know from a family of dinasours to a family of humans. You will also know why their insane son Bart Simpsons is insane . This book will tell you everything you need to know such as why Homers mom is hardly ever mentioned. It will also tell you why Homer is completely bald .Anyway, this as an amazing book it gives you to much information so I can not even sum it up.

I have been watching the Simpsons since I was 10 years old.My brother was 8 years old.It tickled us that we were Bart and Lisa's ages.I thought this book was going to go through all the Simpson's characters. Kinda like a family tree. But sadly it fell a little flat.Set out like a scrapbook we go through the childhood of Homer, Homer and Marge's relationship,And a lot of things HOMER.The kids don't show up in the book until over 3/4s of the way through.I found that disappointing. Bart, Lisa, and [...]

Public library copy. $35 book. I'm not going to be "One of those people" claiming the Simpsons was only good or funny in the 90s. I like the Simpsons, but I'm not a regular viewer. I'll watch a new episode every now and then, but I've never watched every episode from every season. Despite my 2 score age, I never was a person raised on TV and I hadn't gotten accustomed to watching seasons until not just the advent of box set seasons, but when costs came down. (Used to be, a season of CSI would co [...]

Nice premise, but short on actual material. The book basically consists of Simpsons milestones from the beginning of the show to now. In terms of format, the book consists of screen caps from the show and identifying text, along with quotes and small expository sentences. However, there was nothing really new or even interesting here (especially compared to the older books of the '90s and early '00s). In fact, many if not all of the quotes and incidents will be familiar to fans of the show. It's [...]

If you're a fan of the Simpsons, this is definitely one to check out.It was really cool to see the whole story laid out in chronological order, although weird seeing stuff from more recent episodes in there. The picture quality could have been a bit better and some of the quotes were slightly wrong. Other than that, I really enjoyed this. It was a fun easy read and brought back a lot of great memories of moments I have loved. This was a lot of fun. Not perfect, but enjoyable as a fan of the seri [...]

This book is an entertaining read for Simpsons fans. Basically it takes a lot of the events in the show's 2.5 decade run and puts it in a chronological order. Considering the show has done countless flashback episodes over the years - some that seemed to negate others - it was nice to see exactly how events fit together. This is a quick read - I read it in one sitting - and don't expect much that wasn't already shown in the television program. I don't know if I would pay $35 for this book (I bor [...]

I'm not entirely sure what the point of this book was. I just I hoped it would be more substantial and less generic. I guess that it kind of put the earlier seasons' story lines in "order" was interesting, but this is too similar to The Simpsons' Family Album without adding much. It was especially disappointing that some of the screencaps were such terrible quality; it was just amateur hour. Maybe someday there will be a nonfiction history, like what Street Gang was for Sesame Street, but this a [...]

A fun quick borrow from the library- enjoyed having a look at the Simpsons family history, especially Marge and Homer's young dating days. Very cute, but there wasn't enough content or laughs to justify the cover price unless you are a hardcore fan. This is best checked out of a library, enjoyed and returned for the next person to enjoy.

This was cute, and it reminded me of some of my favourite episodes, but ultimately it was just a big picture book. I was hoping for a more in-depth book with stories written by the characters, not just screenshots from the show.

this was a good visual history of homer and marge and how their family came to be. most of what we learned on the TV show was shown in flash back episodes or snippets here and there. this was the full story with no episode gaps. great for Simpsons fans, of any sort.

Read through pages of screen-grabs in less than two hours (maybe less). If you ever had to take an exam on 'Simpson Family History' and did not want to watch the episodes, this book is the 'Cliffs Notes' you would be looking for.Certainly not worth the U.S. $35.00 price tag.

I liked it but they entirely left out Homer's boyhood farm. And Marge's early childhood (such as from fear of flying) should be in there, as when she married Homer she got everything, including his DNA
