This story is a told by a little Jewish girl who shows us just how much fun Hanukkah can be. I enjoyed that throughout the pages was the common phrase of "Biddy biddy bim bom bim bom bop". This made it seem as though the music was playing throughout the book.Text to Self:This book actually reminded me of all the holiday traditions that my family has. Specifically this reminded me of Christmas time at my nana's house and the tradition we have of breaking the bread together and then sharing it. Ju [...]

The author of the popular Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa series spins a light-hearted, rollicking and fresh Hanukkah story as a contemporary young girl, Rachel, be-bops and dances her way through a rhythmic Hanukkah celebration, complete with dreidel spinning, candle lighting, latke eating, and of course dancing to a traditional klezmer band. The book features a repetitive rhythmic refrain which adds a joyous touch to the tale. The lively and colorful illustrations add to the fun.

Rachel is helping everyone get ready for Hanukkah and greets her relatives and friends at the door. She helps them all get ready to have some fun at the first Hanukkah Hop. This catchy story is a must for those that want stories about getting ready for the holidays, families coming together and everyone having a good time in celebration. A song is sprinkled throughout the story which is a nice touch and the rhyming makes it a lot of fun for kids of all ages.

This is a couple notches above your typical Chanukah storybook. The story is told in decent rhymes with a chorus written like a nigun, a sort of Jewish form of jazz scat. :) A little girl's family hosts a Chanukah dance and she stays at the center of the party from beginning to end. Recommended.

Pre-K to Grade 2. Beautifully illustrated book about a family gathering together for Hanukkah-- lighting the dandels, singing rock of ages, remembering the Maccabees, making latkes, spinning dreidels and dancing til they drop! The artwork sets it apart.
